It was early spring, and Monet’s gardens were in bloom. I stood in this part of the water garden, where Monet had drawn inspiration from his large collection of Japanese woodblock prints when designing the landscape. He planted many exotic species, including bamboos, Japanese maples, azaleas, and water lilies.

On this day, just after a light rain, the air felt especially fresh. A small boat sat quietly on the pond, while the abundant bamboos soaked in the sunlight. It was breathtakingly beautiful. This painting captures the feelings I had in that moment.
