It was a sunny spring day, and after spending several days in the studio working on a large piece, I finally stepped outside to enjoy some fresh air.
I wandered through my neighborhood beneath the warm sunlight, passing beds of colorful flowers—Bishop’s Hat, white peonies, Glory-of-the-Snow, and many other vibrant blooms lining the water’s edge. As I walked, I noticed a girl gliding gracefully on a skateboard, her movements full of ease and beauty.
With my coffee in hand and sketchbook open, I began to capture the charm of the moment. I wanted to express the calm, joyful atmosphere that surrounded me. As I painted later in the studio, the feelings from that day stayed with me, and it felt as though the joy of spring was dancing beside me as I brought the scene to life on the canvas.
